Mortgages For Professionals – Why use a mortgage broker

All mortgage lenders have different lending criteria. Mortgages are definitely not one size fits all. Whilst it is easy to search online for different lenders deals and interest rates, there is no mortgage bible to tell you which lenders have what criteria, which is why an experienced mortgage broker can save you time, money and disappointment. Experience of the market and of who is willing to do what and equally importantly, who won’t do what, is essential if you are to avoid wasting time submitting a mortgage application to a lender that either isn’t right for your individual requirements or won’t offer exactly what you are looking for.

All lenders will welcome applications from professionals but not all will treat them differently from any other salaried employee. Professionals such as accountants, architects or members of the legal profession have qualifications that some lenders will see as (if not a guarantee of future income) a great indicator of earning potential. Your qualifications are a tangible asset in ensuring likely future employability. Lenders may see certain professions as having a high degree of job stability and perhaps a more predictable career path and underwriters may therefore have a little more flexibility in such cases.
